1. Southern Sweden Sightseeing Tour
Thursday, 18 October 08:00-16:00

The bus leaves from Copenhagen at 08.00 hrs. going to Malmö in Skåne, Sweden, by passing the newly opened, impressive bridge between Denmark and Sweden.

In the 16th century Skåne was a part of Denmark. Fishermen and farmers founded Malmö in the 13th century. Today Malmö is Sweden's third largest city (250,000 inhabitants) and the commercial centre of southern Sweden. The city offers a continental mix of old and new with a charming historic centre.

The bus continues to Lund, 20 km. north of Malmö. Lund was founded in about 990 by a Danish Viking, King Svend Tveskæg (Forkbeard). The city obtained a status of religious, political, cultural and commercial centre of the whole Scandinavia. Today Lund is one of Sweden's main university cities.

In Lund you will visit Lund Cathedral, consecrated in 1145, and the finest Romanesque building in Scandinavia. Inside the church the towering, a 14th century astronomical clock is a must. At the stroke of noon knights on horseback clash, trumpeters blow a fanfare, the organ plays and the Three Holy Kings appear to pay obeisance to the Virgin Mother and Child. Next to the church and the old University Library is "Kulturen", which is the next stop on the tour. It is an open-air museum, a fascinating assembly of centuries-old farm and manorhouses. The buildings have been gathered from various districts of southern Sweden and carefully reconstructed in their original form. You will find runestones and implements dating back to the Viking Age and an extraordinary beautiful tiny, old wooden church.

Lunch will be served at the best hotel in Lund, the Grand Hotel. After lunch, the coach returns to Malmö where the tour terminates at the "Lille Torget", the most picturesque, old square in the very heart of Malmö. From here you have a lot of shopping opportunities as well as cafés on the square. The square is a 10-minute walk from the Malmö Central Station, where trains leave for the Copenhagen Central Station every 20 minutes. The train ride takes 40 minutes (ticket price not included). The tour price includes an English-speaking professional guide, all entrance fees and lunch.

Participants must bring their passports. Please notice that the visa regulations are not the same for Denmark and Sweden. It is recommended to ask at your local embassies.

Price per person (minimum 20 persons): DKK 850.00. Please sign up by using the Hotel and Tour reservation form. DSB Group & Conference Services reserves the right to cancel the tour in the event of insufficient attendance.

The tour starts and terminates at the City Hall Square in front of the Palace Hotel.

Duration: 8 hrs.

2. Royal Scandinavia Porcelain Tour
Thursday, 18 October 2001, 09:45-13:15

Visit the factory of the world famous porcelain of Royal Scandinavia and see how the porcelain is hand painted. Some of the porcelain, e.g. the Blue Fluted Porcelain and the Flora Danica, has been in production for centuries. There will be a 1 hour showing around of the factory by a local guide. After the visit the coach takes you into the very heart of Copenhagen to visit the shop of Royal Copenhagen, where also coffee and Danish pastry will be served in the lovely café. In the shop you can see examples of beautiful table setups with the famous porcelain. On display is also the latest porcelain work of a new generation of dynamic Danish artists and designers.

After the tour do not miss the tiny Georg Jensen museum next to the Royal Copenhagen shop. The museum is too small for group visits, so you have to enjoy the museum on your own. Georg Jensen was the greatest Danish silversmith of the last 300 years. His most productive period was from 1904 to 1935. Also next to the Royal Copenhagen shop is the Illums Bolighus, a shop where you can find all the best of modern Danish design.
